When something significant occurs in our life or we have a big decision to make, many of us turn to symbolic systems, seeking guidance and/or clarity.
We draw a tarot card.
We cast the runes.
We note that we keep seeing crows.

Look up what it "means."
But what if that very impulse — that reaching for certainty and established definitions — is exactly what flattens the symbol? Is what closes the conversation that Life is trying to have with us?
Symbols are not static signs with definitive meanings that can be simply rote-learned.
Rather, they are responsive, relational, and alive. They are dynamic, meeting us differently over time — shaped by context, timing, and the quality of attention we bring to them.
Symbols as Living Messengers is a self-paced introduction to symbolic literacy, created for those who are drawn to connect more deeply with the Otherworld, and who long to deepen both their spiritual practice and self-knowledge.
Through a number of contemplative practices, it explores a subtle but profound shift: from accepting the predefined, established meaning of symbols to personally connecting and relating to them.
Why Symbolic Literacy Matters
Symbolic literacy is the ground beneath any deeper study of tarot, numerology, astrology, runes, or dreams. Without it, we tend to settle for generalised, oversimplified notions — "All 7s are mystics," "Capricorns are workaholics." With it, we can engage these symbolic languages with greater nuance, depth, and discernment.
Symbolic literacy asks us to slow down, to resist generalising, to be present with the complexity of a symbol, to allow ourselves to meet it in this moment, knowing that it may bring a different message in the next.
It demands a willingness to tolerate ambiguity.
And a willingness to meet the world as holy. Every single thing in the world can serve as a messenger for the Divine. From flowers to clouds, from animals to oracle cards, from crystals to dreams and overheard conversations in your local cafe.
Ultimately, this work asks us to honour the presence of the sacred embodied in this material world of form. And, in so doing, it empowers us to tend our inner world — our spirit within our physical form — by giving us the ability to personally interpret the messages and guidance we receive.

It is a reflective, experiential invitation to notice how symbols work — in tarot, dream fragments, Numbers, archetypes, and the patterns that show up in your everyday life. More specifically, it is an invitation to cultivate symbolic sight through contemplative practices — symbolic sight being the foundational capacity at the heart of symbolic literacy.
Symbols as Living Messengers is a self-paced offering that you can dive into from anywhere, at any time. It is centred around a carefully structured Guide, and supported by two custom apps that we’ve created especially for our students.
You won't just be thinking about symbolic sight and symbolic literacy. Through a series of simple, contemplative practices, you'll begin developing these yourself.
To be clear, this is not something mastered quickly. It is the work of a lifetime of practice. It deepens through continued listening, reflection, journalling, study, and a willingness to meet each symbol as a living messenger.

The Archetype Boards (companion app)
Ten carefully-curated Archetype Boards (150–200 images each) — one for each Number from
1 to 9, plus Number 11. Designed to be met contemplatively rather than read like a dictionary, each Board holds images, photographs, illustrations, and quotes that hint at the archetypal energy of each Number, from many different angles. You can save the images that most stir or resonate with you to your own private board, for return visits and ongoing reflection.
Through one of the practices introduced in the Guide, you’ll engage with these Boards directly, noticing what draws you in, what you resist, and what begins to take shape in your awareness. A note from me
I have been working professionally with Pythagorean numerology for over 23 years, and teaching it for more than a decade. Q: How will I access the Guide and the apps?
The Guide arrives as a beautifully designed PDF that you can download, print if you wish, and keep on your own device — so it remains yours, regardless of internet access or future platform changes. Q: Will I learn numerology through this offering?
Not in any technical sense, no — and I want to be honest about that. Symbols as Living Messengers introduces the contemplative orientation that underpins all of my numerology work, and offers you a felt encounter with the archetypal energies of your own Birth Path Number through the Archetype Boards. It's a doorway into the lineage. Learning numerology proper — how to cast charts, work with all the core calculations, and engage the full Pythagorean system — is the work of my deeper courses, beginning with Foundations of Pythagorean Numerology, and Know Thyself!. Many students find this introductory offering the right place to start, particularly if they want to see whether my approach resonates before committing to longer study.
Q: I'm new to numerology and contemplative practice. Is this a good fit?
Yes. This work is designed as a doorway, and a beginner's mind is genuinely the right starting place. You don't need any prior knowledge of numerology, contemplative practice, or symbolic work. The Guide builds the orientation step by step, and the practices are gentle, simple, and grounded — there's nothing to get right before you begin.
Q: Will there be one-on-one time with Juliette?
No. This is a self-paced course. It does not include any class time or live sessions with Juliette.
The simple answer is no. Symbolic literacy as a contemplative practice isn't bound to any particular religion or moral code — though it does rest on a philosophical foundation that points to an underlying intelligence at work in the Cosmos. You can absolutely bring your own faith to this work. A Pagan, Christian, Buddhist, agnostic, or atheist seeker will each meet symbols through the lens of their own worldview, and the practice is enriched rather than constrained by that. The symbolic languages themselves — numerology, astrology, dreams, myth — are larger than any one tradition. I welcome anyone of any faith, or of no faith at all. I am honoured to share this path with you.
Q: Is numerology aligned with a specific faith or world view? Do I need to believe in a particular spiritual or philosophical path to work with you?
Q: I'm LGBTQ+ - Is this a safe space for me?
Yes. Anyone who has felt like an outsider in terms of their free self-expression will find a home in this work and in this community. While I am a hetero-ish, cisgender woman who will never claim expertise in the lived experience of the LGBTQ+ community, I have had two trans partners — a transman and a transwoman.
