Lunar Eclipse at 5° Sagittarius (at the South Node)

Updated: May 30, 2021

Releasing trapped, frozen energy and old, false stories from our emotional body.

Eclipse Season May/June 2021 - Gemini/Sagittarius

"Never, ever underestimate the power of love. Even one moment of empathic, attuned contact can change a person forever. Please don’t forget that for many, they have never actually known the erupting power of unconditional holding.

While you may be burning with the need to talk a struggling friend out of their experience – overflowing with solutions, techniques, and secret spiritual processes – stay attuned… for this may not be what they are longing for. Listen carefully, not just to the words, but to what is emanating out of the centre of their heart.

Through your presence, your eyes, your touch, and your language, hold them so that they are reminded that surging vulnerability, heartbreak, confusion, and uncertainty is not evidence that something is wrong with them. But is a reminder of how alive they are, and the realities of being a sensitive, open, naked human being on a star where love is present.

One of the greatest gifts you can give to another is that of a regulated, calm, soothing nervous system. Provide a permission field where they can come to rest, exactly as they are, without needing to be something different in order for you to stay close.

Together, you will be midwives of integration, weaving a holding space for the unfolding of what is longing to be met within them."

- Matt Licata, Psychotherapist

Eclipse:

I wanted to share Matt Licata's wisdom while we're in the thick of eclipse season, as many of us are feeling particularly emotional at the moment. I'm sure many of us could use the unconditional, loving support of a close friend. Lunar eclipses (like the one we experienced a couple of days ago at 5° Sagittarius) can stir up prominent emotional themes and stories in our lives. Not because the Universe likes to watch us dance, but in order to bring closure to them; in order to heal them.

What has been coming up for you over the past couple of weeks, in the vortex of the lunar eclipse on 26 May? One chapter or way of being is closing, and another is readying to open.

Think of it like we're walking across a rope bridge spanning a deep chasm. Once we safely reach the other side, the rope bridge will fall into the river below and be washed away. The question is whether you have the courage to cross the rope bridge, and to then allow it to fall away?

Do you trust the process? Can you honour the internal and external changes the eclipses are heralding in your life?

Being a South Node Lunar Eclipse, highlighting Gemini and Sagittarius, we’re letting go of trapped, frozen, and stuck energy patterns that have embedded themselves in our emotional body. We’re being asked to release the false stories and imprints that these stuck energy fragments have created about who we are and how the world is. In some way, we've inadvertently given our power to these false beliefs, and they've held us back from the truth of ourselves and our true potential.

We're asked to be brave.

What is calling to be addressed now? What needs to be released, in order for you to step more fully into your true life?

I've been asked if we need to set intentions around the stories or beliefs that we want to let go of, during this lunar eclipse? Not really. It's great to set intentions and to hold ritual space, but it's more like Life itself is telling us what we need to look at, now. Messages will show up in clear and quite unexpected ways - random conversations, unexpected events, sudden urges.

What we can do is make space and time in our world to receive the messages and images the eclipses are bringing us. Secondly, trust these messages. They are guideposts to the new life we're being pointed towards. Thirdly, write down your dreams. Eclipse dreams are a 'thing'. They open a doorway to the unconscious and allow the Soul to speak to you.

(The second eclipse for this season on 10 June will be a solar eclipse.)

Check your diary:

Eclipses return to roughly the same degree of the zodiac every 18 or 19 years. Whenever they return to any given degree of the zodiac, we often see the next chapter of an ongoing storyline unfold. If you'd like to find the thread of this particular eclipse series, here are the dates to consider. (Consider the couple of weeks either side of the dates given below.) Can you see how an emotional wound or story that began at an earlier eclipse at this degree has continued to evolve over subsequent eclipses at this same degree? (South Node in Sagittarius and North Node in Gemini)

- 26 May 2002

- 31 May 2003

- 31 May 1984

- 31 May 1965

Eclipses will hit each of us differently, depending on what they illuminate in our individual natal chart. Personally, this is a big one for me. I was floored to realise the tapestry being woven in my life by eclipses at this particular degree! The more I sat with the dates of this eclipse series, the more my jaw dropped in complete awe and astonishment. All I could do was think, "Woahhhh. You just can't make this stuff up!"

I can see the whole storyline unfolding in a sublime, diachronic pattern across time. The initial wounding occurred during the eclipse season of May 1984, when I was just 12 years old. I mustered the courage to challenge that wound for the first time during the eclipse season of May 2003. And now, in our current eclipse season, I can see just how far I've come with this particular wound, by how I handled the latest 'saga' in the continuing storyline. (Like I said, we can set intentions around what we think we want to work on, but ultimately the cosmic intelligence that underlies All That Is will show us what we need to work on. The necessary experiences and storyline will constellate around us.)

I'm doing "my work", engaging and releasing the false stories that have controlled my emotional body for the past 37 years. I'm sure you all are, too.

Whatever arises for us or our loved ones this eclipse season (and indeed every day), let's remember Matt Licata's wisdom on how to be present for each other. Showing up and doing our work of personal and spiritual growth can be overwhelming and distressing. It's easier with the unconditional loving support and acceptance of those close to us.

"Never, ever underestimate the power of love."

Peace
